My knitted "thing"

Katie called her first knitting project a thing and I like that... because first knitting projects definitely resemble "things".
I took a couple photos with my real camera this weekend but I haven't put them on the computer yet. I did take a photo last night with my phone though so I thought I'd share my thing!

Sorry about the quality of the photo... remember it's with my phone. And I'm sure it doesn't help that there is a bunch of plant junk around it too.
But I'm moving right along! I only do a few rows at a time because my hands start to hurt... my mom thinks that this will help strengthen them. I think I'm just gripping the needles too much. My first few rows were crazy tight! Don't worry though... I've loosened up!
: )

I'm going to another knitting meetup tonight! Yay!

Your Thing looks great!! Here i was picturing some wonky piece of knitted fabric. You did 100 times better then my friend when she first learned! Im super impressed and you should be proud!
Glad to hear you are loosening up-I hope it helps with the pain.
Have fun tonight!

I agree--your thing does look great! I think that yarn has a nice color pattern.

Knitting really hurt my hand when I first started too, and it was because I was doing everything too tightly. The finger I use to push the needle back down and through (if that makes sense) was sore for a while in part because I had to build up a little tolerance, but mostly because I had to force it a lot. You'll get looser with practice.

This is sounding awfully naughty: getting looser, your "thing."

By the way, I told myself I wasn't going to buy anymore yarn for a while after I finished my poncho because the school semester has just started, and I didn't want to start a knitting project I couldn't finish very quickly. But yesterday, I couldn't help myself! I bought some to make Rich a hat or a scarf and some really soft baby yarn to make a baby hat for some friends. It's addictive I tell you!
